Amy has a B.S. in Biology focused in Dental Hygiene, an M.S. in Nutrition and Biochemistry, and a post-graduate teaching certificate. Her teaching certifications are in Biology and Life Science, General Science and Chemistry, Health, and ESL, which are current in both Florida and Texas.
Amy has taught in the U.S. and internationally at American curriculum schools in multiple countries including Malaysia, Abu Dhabi, and Saudi Arabia. Her teaching experience of 13 years has spanned all ages and subjects covering college level classes, homeschooling groups, Reggio Emilio Pre-K, English for refugees through UNCHR, as well as private classes with Funfit Fitness Center.
Amy has worked as a curriculum coordinator, is a certified proctor for SAT tests, and acted as a high-school college counselor in addition to her classroom teaching. She is a certified Texas Master Naturalist and is involved with gathering field research in conjunction with Texas Parks and Wildlife on Texas Native Bat species. She is also taking part in the Rice University Change Cancer Research Program where she will participate in cancer research at Rice University and design STEM- based curriculum utilizing her work.
Amy is passionate about teaching and cultivating a love for learning in her students, no matter their age or background and is a strong advocate for therapy animals in the classroom. Her favorite pastimes when not teaching are visiting schools, libraries, and nursing homes with her certified pet therapy dog, reading, hiking, kayaking, and spending time with her family.
