Kate earned a B.A. in Math Education from Brigham Young University (BYU) and M.A. in Family Science from Concordia University - St. Paul. She holds a secondary math teaching certificate in Texas and has teaching experience at the middle and high school levels in Texas and Utah. She also has experience tutoring math at the elementary to high school levels.

In addition to her background in math education, Kate also has experience as a professional life and parenting coach. She has coached and taught individuals and employees of global companies on life skills, stress management, burnout, parenting, relationships, and mindfulness. She has also served as a school family engagement liaison providing support and social-emotional education and support to students with emotional and behavioral issues and their caregivers. In addition, she has served on the Parent Education Committee for the Texas Council on Family Relations (TxCFR), where she provided parent education support to professionals throughout Texas.

Kate holds various certificates in coaching including the Professional Coach, Life Coach, Relationship & Bereavement Coach Certificates from the World Coach Institute: ICF-Approved Training, Stress Management Coach Certificate from Spencer Institute, Understanding Child Development Course Certificate from Utrecht University, Mindfulness Practitioner Certificate from The Academy of Modern Applied Psychology, and Positive Discipline Parent Educator Certificate from the Positive Discipline Association and has also completed the Texas Behavioral Support Initiative (TBSI) Training at UT Austin.

Kate is the assistant course lead and online instructor for the parenting course in the BYU-Idaho Worldwide Program. She also worked as the content expert to co-create the course with topics including conflict management, leadership, personality, temperament, emotion management, developmentally appropriate parenting, growth mindset, parenting teens, and discipline. Utilizing her experiences as a life coach and university instructor, Kate recently taught a Life Resilience course to the CTL upperclassmen.

Kate’s many talents include teaching piano in which she holds a Teaching Elementary Piano Course Certificate from the Royal Conservatory of Music. She has taught various ages from three-year-olds to adults. We are excited to have Kate with her many areas of expertise join our CTL family!
