Kristina Friesen, B.A.
Music Teacher
Email:
Kristina holds a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministries from Briercrest College (SK, Canada) and has completed specialized music studies at Prairie College (AB, Canada). A lifelong musician, she has been performing as a vocalist and pianist since the age of eight for a wide variety of audiences. Before finishing high school, Kristina achieved her Grade 9 Royal Conservatory of Music certification as well as Royal Conservatory Level 2 Theory. She went on to study both voice and piano at the college level, completing additional coursework in chorale music, piano pedagogy, music theory, and conducting.

Alongside her primary instruments, Kristina has expanded her musical abilities to include ukulele, trumpet (performing in high school jazz band for two years and concert band for four years), select percussion instruments, recorder, and guitar. She has toured Western Canada as a vocalist and pianist with a Briercrest College music group, and traveled Europe as an alto vocalist with a Prairie College choir.

In the classroom, Kristina focuses on teaching the fundamentals of music, giving students the tools to pursue playing an instrument or taking vocal lessons independently. She hopes her General Music students leave her classes with the confidence to try a new instrument or sing, a greater comfort performing before an audience, and a lifelong appreciation for music.

When not teaching, Kristina enjoys spending time with her family, exploring nature trails and parks, traveling, reading, and caring for the family’s pet leopard gecko.
