Small School
& Class Size
At CTL, every child is known, supported, and valued. By maintaining a small school community and class sizes of 20 students or fewer, we create an environment where students feel connected and teachers can give each child the individual attention they deserve.
Because of our small-school atmosphere, teachers are able to collaborate closely and align the curriculum seamlessly across grade levels. In the classroom, small groups allow teachers to differentiate instruction, tailoring lessons to meet each student’s strengths, needs, and interests.
The benefits go beyond academics. In a small school, students are more engaged, more likely to participate in extracurricular activities, and more confident in taking on leadership roles. At CTL, no child is ever “just a face in the crowd.”
Research confirms what we see every day: small schools and small class sizes have significant benefits for children. A review of hundreds of studies found that students in small schools experience higher achievement, stronger relationships, and a greater sense of belonging (Shah et al., 2009, p.10; Hochschild & Scovronick, 2003; Wesley et al., 2000).
